Start CheckFrequently asked questions about iPhone eSIM compatibility
eSIM support starts from iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. All subsequent models (iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series) support eSIM. Older models like iPhone X and earlier do not support eSIM.
China mainland iPhones (model numbers ending in CH/A) do not support eSIM data functionality due to policy restrictions. We recommend using international or Hong Kong version iPhones — Hong Kong versions (ZP/A) also support eSIM.
The US version of iPhone 14 completely removed the physical SIM slot, requiring eSIM exclusively. This makes it very convenient for using local carrier eSIMs when traveling to the US, but requires your phone to support eSIM. China mainland iPhone 14 cannot use eSIM in the US.
Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM, scan the QR code we provide, and installation completes in about 3 minutes. After installation, you can manage eSIM status in Cellular settings, with auto-connection on arrival.
Yes. iPhone supports one physical SIM + one eSIM simultaneously, allowing you to keep your original number for calls and texts while using eSIM for data — they work independently without interference.
eSIM itself has minimal impact on battery life, with power consumption similar to a physical SIM. Battery drain mainly depends on network signal strength and data usage — we recommend using it in areas with good signal.
